Is this normal?
« on: October 15, 2011, 11:39:52 pm »

Reclaimed a fortress that fell due to  an ...oversight... with a backdoor into my base. Looked at the combat log after a bit and I see a water buffalo fighting an alligator. The odd thing is the buffalo is apparently wearing clothing which has been deflecting several attacks. Is this supposed to happen or what? I'm assuming it was one of the merchant's pack animals, but I never knew animals could benefit from items.

Check the creature's inventory, see if it's carrying/wearing any inventory.  And report and mods you may be using.

Have the lazy newb pack but haven't been using anything other than the texture pack and disabling aquafiers (ugh). Dwarf therapist isn't going to affect it of course.

edit: I know it mentioned a cloak/cape in the log, can't remember if there was any other ones.

Another log mentions a buffalo deflecting a blow to the head with a hood. Definitely was a merchant animal this time.

I can confirm that a berserk merchant horse carrying lots of clothing and various nick-knacks will in fact become near impossible to kill with anything save good old dwarven weaponry. The damn horse had a page worth of dents from a war mastiff but nothing significant other than just being battered for a while.

Got a screenshot this time. Unfortunately while the equipment made it nigh invincible against everything from giant tigers to goblins, it seems to have finally met its match.
