They made a game like that. I can't remember what it was called, but it has been remade a bajillion times. It was basically a really long cutscene, and each time you had to get things right or you would die and it would start again.

I think you might be thinking of Dragon's Lair. At least that's the game that kicked off the fad of FMV gimmick games.
They were to the games industry what 3D movies were to the movie industry.
