Butchering a Native Platinum Forgotten Beast?
« on: October 06, 2011, 09:51:34 pm »

It took some doing, but I brought the beast down the dwarven way.   Now my little dudes are hauling it up to the fort in three several-ton chunks...  I'm thinking that's a lot of platinum: the right hand alone weighs 3170...  I tried designating it to be melted on the [z]tocks screen, but no luck.  What will happen if I butcher it?  Anyone ever run into something like this?  Thanks for your input!

I may be wrong, but I don't think FB bodies work like that. You can butcher them if they're made of edible meat, but things like ones made of metal cannot be butchered. Same as the ones made of some sort of gem cannot be cut into a huge jewel. If it's meat it gets eaten, if it's not, it sits in your stockpile, blinking. Forever.

You'd think you could use chunks of metallic creatures to melt into the metal itself. And assuming you didn't smash it into a fine powder, you'd think you could get some usable gems from a creature made of them.

Perhaps in a later release...?

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.
