Adamantine questions

Hey folks.  I'm wondering about a couple of details of working with adamantine:

1) How much raw adamantine is needed to make one strand, and how many strands are needed to make one wafer?

2) How do you stockpile strands? In the stockpile screen metal strands and cloth are greyed out.

3) Is there any way to keep surgeons from using adamantine strands for sutures? They seem to love the stuff.

1 raw adamantine stone makes one strand, one strand makes one wafer.

They'll be stored in any cloth stockpile, whether you want them to be or not.

Locked doors.  When you want to make adamantine, lock your strand extractors and furnace operators in a sealed environment along with the raw adamantine, craftsdwarf workshops and magma smelters, bedrooms, and a supply of food and drink.  Don't unlock the door until all the adamantine has been extracted and then melted to make wafers.

The "Thread (Metal)" and "Cloth (Metal)" stockpile options only work correctly if your world was generated using version 0.31.22 or later - if it wasn't, then you'll need to edit data/save/regionX/raw/objects/inorganic_metal.txt and add [STOCKPILE_THREAD_METAL] to the ADAMANTINE material definition at the end of the file.

Unfortunately, due to this bug, those particular stockpile options don't actually work anyways, so it doesn't really matter.
