so, some goblins and elves came and got their mounts caged.
I am now in possession of 3 giant badgers.
unsure what to do with them, i just left them in cages for later.
well, one of the sows had babies, and now i want them.

I've had my trainer tame them all, and they all have the TAME tag next to their names.

which of these badgers, if any, may i pasture without them getting loose and mangling my fort?

If they came as invader mounts, THEY ARE NOT REALLY TAME.  I think the babies might be safe, but release them in a contained manner to be sure.

They won't breed unless you [PET] them in the raws.  But being enemy mounts, they count as enemies and taming is difficult if not impossible.  Similarly, if you [PET] elves, then you can't tame them, but you can tame their children born on map, and this does NOT make the child fully tame - it will wander exactly like a stray animal, but dwarves flee as if it were an enemy.
