« on: October 21, 2011, 09:42:54 am »

I know that corpulant is extremely bad. But I just attacked a gazelle that I couldnt reach any of the vital organs with axes because he had "Untold amounts of fat"........How often do you see this one? Its the first time I saw this one...

Same, never saw that..

I can imagine it being very succesful in the wild.. Instead of using its speed, which is normally has, it simply chokes attackers with its fat.
Sounds like fun to put it on fire

If you have some fun with the arena, most animals (and humanoids) have about one in 50 chances of having this. Besides giving you extra protection, it also makes you very easy to fireproof. Just get yourself on fire, and the fat melts away!

Can we reverse this on a animal/person, like if a dwarfs eat less and work more he will get thin?

Because of the [THICKENS_ON_ENERGY_STORAGE] tag, yes.

Wait what?  can our dwarves get fat from eating too much?  can we give our military a controlled diet to encourage them forming impenitrable flab armour?  o_0

Not "eat too much", but not do anything that requires them to use their strength, such as manual pumping. Dry pumps are a pretty nice way to get your military in top shape.

The fat might save them from a punch during a tantrum spiral.

According to a Toady quote on the dev page, fat growth is related to the recuperation attribute as well as how often the dwarves eat and work. I don't know if high recuperation makes them fatter or thinner, but it apparently controls the metabolism.

Fat dwarves have a larger chance of death due to fire/heat than thin dwarves, because the fat melts and causes bleeding.

Dwarves don't eat less, unless you prevent them from getting meals (starvation)? Don't all dwarves eat twice a season regardless of how hard/little they work? Would it even matter to their fat growth if they ate just plump helmets, or just cat tallow biscuits?
