It's global warming, it messes with the climate something awful. In the UK's case the cold weather is because the melting of the ice caps causes the gulf stream to move away from the continent making it cool down.
It's what caused that whole spree of hurricanes a while back too. Global warming is making the weather more than a bit unstable.

There was a documentary that kept being played on the discovery channel a while back about how it's supposed to destroy mankind by swamping us with floods and hurricanes. Then the weather explodes and the earth gets covered with clouds which causes the weather below the clouds to go all icy, then we freeze to death...
Or something, I don't remember what exactly it said.

I imagine something like that actually will happen but it won't be anywhere near as extreme as the documentary depicted it.
...Day After Tomorrow..?
You know, I was about to go "Meh, another excuse on global warming" skimming over Pnx's post until Scriver mentioned Day After Tomorrow and I re-read Pnx's post. Now I feel like giving Pnx a cookie for referencing Day After Tomorrow.
It was actually a serious documentary with a whole bunch of interviews with experts citing how this was supposed to have happened before. I can't seem to find it though.
I've never actually seen "The Day After Tomorrow", but I imagine it isn't much more extreme than the documentary.

I highly doubt climate change is going to be that extreme, but I think people will have to deal with some serious adjustments to their climates over the next 50 years or so.

It's not like it's going to kill us all, but I think we're getting a taste of how it could make our lives rather miserable.

Weather's back to how it used to be in my region. I dunno. We're almost a full year before the End of Days. It's normal.

The lowlands of Penn's woodland have been humid, hot, rainy, and generally the opposite of how I like my weather (cool and dry). Today was the first "chilly" day, except there were a few cold mornings in early september. The other day it was cold in the morning (so I wore a jacket) and then almost unbearably hot in the afternoon. How I long for winter's snowy embrace.

Having seen TDAT but not the documentary, I'd love to see the latter if the reported reality approaches the given fiction.

(e.g. weather systems bringing the low pressures/temperature of space down to ground levels... but in such a way that closing normal doors significantly stops the effect... And can't get down in-use chimney flues. :) )

Heh, I love those scenes. They're so horrible. They're so tasty.

Also cooling down here in Oregon, at least for now. Wind and some amount of rain.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.
Quote from: Ze Spy
Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.
