locally-made narrow clothing
« on: January 29, 2007, 03:28:00 am »

Every single piece of narrow clothing I have is foreign made (with ()'s around it)

except for one!

This occurred after my first siege ever!!! woot!

I never had the patience to stick it through with one fortress until I got one before

( i kicked their ass by the way (about an even # of unarmored dwarf cannon fodder farmers died))

Conrats.
I don't know what's up with the "localy" made narrow clothing either, I think I've got a piece or two (or several) as well.

As far as I'm aware, it's always decorated, and since the decoration is locally made, the whole item is considered locally-made.

I noticed quite a few pieces of local narrow clothing lately, after killing 5 or so goblins that got caught in cage traps.
none of them were decorated.

Maybe the giant cave spiders  in your cave have learnt how to sew?

The only thing I can see in the code that can remove the () is improving -- do we know if any of it ever had the ()?  Or did the goblins arrive wearing non-() items?  Perhaps these come from their leaders?  Maybe their equipment is handled differently.  I'm not sure.

mine weren't from a siege, just a bunch of random goblins that didn't get announced. I was getting a lot of "cancels load cage trap: needs empty cage" spam so I looked at the animal pile and there were all these goblins.

so I stationed the military on the pile, assigned the goblins to a cage in a zoo, and watched them get shot up as soon as someone let them out of the cage. when the caravan came, I moved all the stuff out and noticed that a bunch of it was local.

actually the stuff might have been from kobolds since there were quite a few of those too. I'll take a look at their inventories next time I see some.

Not sure, according to the old motto :
Narrow is gobbo, Smally for Kobbies!

Yes, I really *need* some sleep

I wonder if any blood on the items might make it locally made? The blood is obviously locally made.

Toady, did you fix that bug from the 0.27 version where goblins coming to a cold glacier would get additional clothing, which turned out to not be set as foreign made? I have noticed this happening in colder biomes in .33e and .33f, maybe it's the same bug?

This thread is one year old, still about the 2D version, there was not any contaminants back there... Probably been fixed already...

Wasn't there a bug that after a corpse rotted away a single item of clothing would appear with their bones and skull? Could that be it?

I dunno.  Anyway, don't dredge up threads from the beginning of the year!  It's always a headache to be reading and then I come to realize there's an 11 month jump.

I'll make a new report on the bug list, since I couldn't find the old one.
