Caravan won't leave. No new migrants.

My fortress is failing to attract new migrants every season, despite quite a bit of created wealth. I think this is because your wealth is only reported once the caravan returns to the mountainhome. My caravan has been sitting in the trade depot for about 2 years now, despite elven caravans coming and going. I think this happened because while the caravan was getting ready to leave I destroyed their only path out and built a bridge over it. Somehow this glitched their pathing and they won't leave now. Any advice?


EDIT: I deconstructed the trade depot and they left. Silly me...

Dig into the caverns, they may leave there

I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean the caverns as in the underground ones that give a message when found? I found those a long time ago. Not sure if it was before or after they didn't leave though.

You may have to kill them all to get a new caravan.

Do NOT order your military to kill them, this will cause a loyalty cascade.  You'll have to wall off the trade depot and flood it, or arrange a cave-in, or lock them in with a horde of goblins or something.
