Bad thoughts for obvious things
« on: September 25, 2011, 07:57:07 pm »

1. Bad thought for sleeping on a floor that is 'hot'
3. Bad thought for sleeping on a floor that is 'wet'
4. Bad thought for sleeping on a floor that is 'cold' (not just ice but cold)
5. Bad thought for sleeping in a steam cloud (hey, it might happen)
6. Bad thought for sleeping within 5 z levels of the magma sea
(how do dorfs sleep in a place that is hotter than the devil's asshole?)
7. Bad thoughts for having to move a body
8. Bad thoughts for having to move the body of a friend
9. Bad thoughts for seeing a body
10. Bad thoughts for seeing the body of a friend
11. Bad thoughts for killing a friend (for instance if you are a captain of the guard)

theres so many more

I'm pretty sure these happen.

These seem to be dependent on the personality of of the dorf.

Now, would sleeping within a few Z of the magma sea be counteracted with a nether-cap bed and its always-freezing wood?

And bad thoughts happen for "witnessing death" but not hauling a corpse or seeing one hauled.  If there were bad thoughts implemented for that, it might (need to) be minor or based on personality to occur at all.  Otherwise, you'd have lots of tantruming undertakers.

Bad thoughts for accidentally killing someone (tantrums, mostly, since training accidents are 99% out) already happen.  Presumably a justice dwarf's devotion to the justice system is stronger than simple friendship, though.

I guess death of of friend bad thought makes it up for all those friend corpse related thoughts, and witnessing death one could be expanded to cover those related to general corpses. What I think is missing here is good thought for putting mortal remains to a place of eternal rest for some dwarves with certain personality trait.
Also I'd like to point out that dwarves don't have hot floors only warm ones. And sleeping in 2/7 warm water is like sleeping in a jacuzzi.
As for the 6th one, why should we care what was last thought of charred pile of bones that soon will be consumed by SMR?
I do agree that keeping good morale should more difficult, but rather by rebalancing current happiness factors: masterful roast shouldn't outweigh death of the only child ( at least not without considerable amount of rat-weed mixed in it  ;))
