They are not large predators.
Hey! Better idea, make all creatures giant desert scorpions that inhabit different biomes, have different descriptions, and actually give leather!

I've modded a test world so every single animals are as big as Yaks and has [LIKES_FIGHTING]. I let my soldiers chase down critters all the way down the map and still the critters just won't fight back. Am a doing something wrong?

Post one of the animals so that we can see what you've done. There may be another tag in there that is interfering with [LIKES_FIGHTING].
