This is awesome, if only you had a Thermopylae setup, 300 style.  If only...

Exactly what is your plan?  Just live and let die, or do you have some cunning dwarven strategy?

Sure.  Oh, Asob's got eighteen notable kills to his name (eagles, elves, two dwarves and a few forgotten beasts) and twenty-five other kills.

The green square is Asob (cant get a decent shot of his little image as it's cycling between him, his stats and two ghosts haunting him).  And yes, that dining hall is full of stray dogs.

Live and let die, I'm afraid.  Not much that can save a fort when the civ's gone extinct.  Oh, the demons are a little ways to the left offscreen, sitting down and doing nothing at the moment.

Well this is embarrassing.  They're all huddling behind a door and doing bugger-all.  I cant Asob to go through it either.

Oh, the child Dodok just went stark raving mad and Libash Avallikot's down with a broken leg in a dorm nearby and he's hungry as well as dehydrated so he's pretty much a goner.  Kubuk's still conducting his meeting with Ushat, the other Dwarven Child.  I checked, and they're not related.  I think they're planning the best way to leg it the hell out of here, but with all outer doors locked there's nowhere to go.

Edit:  I worked out what Kubuk's problem is - he's missing both hands.  I'm not surprised he's hiding out in the mountain dormitory and refusing to go get his gear on medical grounds.

I'm placing my bets on Athel Sakrithgoden

Build a grid of floor grates above the entire city. Draft a squadron of masons and bomb the crap out of the city with falling constructed walls.

Athel's dead.

It's down to;

Libash Avallikot (broken leg and lying helpless in a dorm)

Asob Berdumat the Axe Lord (Buggered off to the Mountain Fort to eat and just wont go through that door to face the demon horde)

Kubuk Dumlokum (doing nothing)

Ushat Kolosol (doing nothing)

Dodok Keskalsterus (stark raving mad and wandered off somewhere)

Asob is doing what I would do. Eat till the end.

My bets are on him :p

I have a plan to get the demons out (it worked, but i had to savescumm back two minutes because i figured out how to make it better).  I'm going to decommission Asob's military status, and make him deconstruct the door.  THIS time, however, I'm going to set it so he keeps his military gear while off-duty...

First off, I got the demons out

Unfortunately, there's just one last dwarf now.  And it's not Asob.  He bought it at the hands of the demon horde.  I managed to get his combat report and he didn't go down easy

That's the first three of fourteen pages.  In the end, a Raven Monster collided with him and he bled to death.  He still stood his ground against MULTIPLE demons and lasted.  Better than the Brigade did by far.

Who's the final dwarf, you ask?

He's the red arrow in the corner of the dining hall, surrounded by ghosts and with a demon in the kitchen.  Gotta be honest, i was expecting the raving mad kid to survive till last.

That Asob was a right and proper dwarf.

Dodok's melancholic now.  Oh, and the Human Caravan came.  The demons didn't like them very much - too stringy, i suspect.

Frigging FINALLY.  I know it's sad and all, but Dodok just refused to lay down and die

...but never forgotten!

Also, I'm fairly certain the last words of Asob were probably "about damn time!"

Finally, here's the world save for anyone wanting to have a look for the place in Adventure mode or reclaim it from the demon horde. If someone could find out what actually happened to the Dwarf Civ with Legends (no idea how to use it)  I'd appreciate it.

Knifemurders: 220-270.  I'd say Rest in Peace, but it'd be an utter lie with the crap that's happened in the place over it's many years.

It was already haunted.  At the end, Dodok had about 10-12 ghosts following him around.  I won't even go into the 20+ ghosts that were scattered around the fortress for decades...

A thought occurs about the (probable) extinction of the dwarves - the game world was only 260-odd years old when the liason stopped coming and i have about 870+ coffins filled with dead dwarves, along with a good 30+ more that are just lost to magma, building accidents and whatnot.  Is it possible that Knifemurders caused the dwarves to die out?  I have no idea if there's a fixed citizen number when a race is genned or what, so just an idle thought.
