Repetitive Freezings
« on: November 01, 2007, 01:59:00 pm »

I sent an e-mail about this to Toady already, but I figured I'd record it here for posterity.

I had a dwarf get injured in a fight against a berserking fey mood.  I'm on a map where the water freezes during the winter, and I was trying to route a pond to an underground cistern when the pool froze.  I started getting the normal lots of spam for needing free buckets or water sources, but I also started getting intermittent lock ups (which I originally thought were crashes, but if I let it sit long enough, it'd start going again for a bit before locking up again).

To compound matters, I ran out of booze and even though I was churning out barrels, dwarves kept taking them before my brewers could get to them.  So my 55 dwarves dropped like flies, and now I have 12 left.  As soon as the injured dwarf died (and the 'give water' spam stopped), I no longer got the lockups.  So maybe it has something to do with looking for paths to water?

Edit: This is with 33a.  Interestingly, the next winter, I had four injured dwarves with lots of 'no water' spam, and got no lockups.
