Decorated ammo multipliers/value/trading bugs
« on: November 01, 2007, 12:33:00 pm »

After observing how expensive some ammo was earlier, I went ahead and encrusted some wooden bolts of my own with some green tourmaline.  The bolts went from 25$ to 29000$.  This was by a first-time jeweler.

Clearly there is a bug here (the prices of the ammo are all divisible by 25), as I can buy out entire caravans now with one stack of encrusted ammo.

I attempted to trade two stacks of ammo for the entire caravan, and the game just crashed on me when I hit [t].

Since every bolt in the stack is decorated, it may be counting the decoration separately for each bolt?

I mean not additively but multiplicatively.  Like if there are 25 bolts each bolt in the stack gains the value of the decoration of every other bolt.  So there are 25 decorations (1 per bolt) and bolt #1 gains the value of decorations #1 through #25, as does bolt #2 etc.

This sort of thing might explain the weirdness I had with bolt weight yesterday (ver 32a).  I had some large bolt stacks that kept getting heavier.  At one point they weighed 10k per stack, then well over 1M.  When fired (thus becoming single stacks), the weight reverted to 1 per bolt as it should be.  Since they never combine lone bolts into new stacks, the problem fixed itself over time.  Still, seeing a marksdwarf fire one bolt per day due to excess weight is pretty dumb.
