About next release...
« on: August 27, 2011, 09:42:09 pm »

No, I'm not asking when the game gets updated. I'm asking what will be added in next release. How necromancy works, what you'll be able to do in cities/dungeons, etc. Also, in the Development page, will this release count as Release 1 in the Caravan Arc or am I missing something?

I believe this is THE Release 1, yes.

As for what's added..  err..  were-animals, big towns (with catacombs & sewers), necromancers (and related curses), vampires... ummm... adventurer interactions, whatever that means (but sounds big).. that's about it, I think.

Edit: As for how things work, I don't think anyone really knows the specifics. Towns are for strolling around, shopping and killing stuff.

Is this update mostly for adventure mode, or will you be able to use anything in fortress mode?

Using Just Embark you can probably embark on all sorts of fun things, and then (ab)use them.

EDIT: Oh, and all that undead stuff can come to your fortress.

Curses can also affect your fortress, I belive.

Were-creatures might also attack, according to one of the devlogs

It sounds like were-critters might migrate in, which is 9000x more awesome than being attacked by them.

...Up until now I've had no reason to create a migrant purging device to deal with unwanted migrants...

...I'm not certain whether or not this will prompt me to...
I wonder, if everyone in the fort theoretically became infected/what-have-you with were-thing-ism, would the fortress crumble or just continue about its business with monthly intervals of SUDDEN MONSTER RAMPAGE?

toady mentioned that exact case at some point.. possibly the last dftalk, or the one previous.. he said that he right then added a dev note for himself so that he would fix it so your fortress doesn't crumble if your entire population converts to werebeasts, and since they dont attack each other, you would be perfectly safe to have a fortress with all werebeast infected dwarves.. the people visiting your fort however...

I might be able to re-enact a generic children of the corn esque fort when cultural diffusion(Multi Racial forts, civs, and towns/cultural blending through war and trade, At least Im hoping thats planned eventually) A human family moves in to a friendly dwarven mountain, the dwarves even built them a nice little cottage......
One lunar cycle later...
