Hey there guys! I'm here to introduce you to a little game called Arrowflight.
Arrowflight is a fantasy RPG with some elements of steampunk and plenty of magic. It has a simpler engine, relying only on D6, and therefor is a little easier to just pick up and play. The magic system is very diverse and there's even mechanics for creating your own spells. There are also airships and black powder weapons for the enterprising sky pirate. The races are also very diverse, and although elves are the dominant race in the world, there are still many different races to choose from, including dwarves, humans, orcs, shal'taka (Dragon-men), merfolk, and many others.
What you will need in order to play:
- Skype and some sort of microphone.
- At least two six sided dice, or some sort of dice-rolling app.
- Some tolerance for a fairly new GM (me)
What you will not need, but what will be useful to have:
- A copy of the main game book, which can be found in PDF format here. Unfortunately I don't have permission to hand out copies of the book, so you'll have to buy it yourself. Again, you will not need this, but it will definitely be useful to have your own copy.
- Some experience with pen & paper RPGs. You'll be playing with a few newbies, but all of them have had a little experience with other RPGs. I don't mind explaining mechanics, but I'd rather not have to.
The nature of the game:
- Mostly story based. There will be some rolling, but not as much fighting or dungeon crawling as other scenarios. The whole story will revolve around the characters actions and how they affect the world around them, not about bashing heads to find some magical treasure. There might be some of that, but it's not going to be the main focus.
- Fun. I really want people to have fun with this. If you're not having fun, or you're not getting along with another player, tell me, I'll see what I can do about it. That said, this isn't going to be wacky shenanigans, this is still going to have some semblance of seriousness, which brings me to the next point:
- No death immunity. Some GMs won't let your character die. This is not the case for me. I feel that death immunity leads players to believe that they can do whatever they want and barge blindly into situations that they would normally die from, only to emerge with a couple bruises. I'm not going to be completely unforgiving about it, just know that character death is a real possibility, and if you do something tremendously stupid, don't expect to get away scott-free.
So, if you've read all that and you still want to join, the game will be every Sunday at 1:00 PM PST (GMT -8), starting either this week or next, depending on when I get enough players. I've already got two, with a possible third, and I'm waiting to get to four or five. So if you want to play, PM me, and if you have any questions or criticisms, post in the thread. I will respond as soon as possible.
