Can you starve out seiges?

I was wondering if I could just wait for the seiges to die, just like the merchants. Can it be done?

If they haven't path to leave, would sieges starve?

Like if you build rising bridges to mad edges, keep them lowered until siege comes, rise them and wait.

Invaders don't need to eat or drink.  The only creatures which need to eat or drink are intelligent creatures belonging to your fortress.

You cannot starve sieges.
