Stuck inside a statue
« on: November 06, 2006, 09:06:00 pm »

Oh man, this guy really wants to find a way to go fishing.

Oh look, he's inside a statue somehow! That sure does make fishing difficult.

I honestly have no idea how this happened, but I do think the fisherdwarf that is stuck was the one trying to place the statue. What gives?

Had there been a cave river overflow recently?  Maybe the dwarf got pushed on to it somehow...

No, there was no flooding. It's just like he tried to place the statue in the same tile he was on and it all went to hell. I marked the statue for removal and changed his work orders so the only thing he could do was furniture moving, but he wasn't able to get out of it. Another dwarf came around and moved it and he was freed, though.

This happens a lot with statues and windows.  It seems to happen to fisherdwarves in particular fairly often, too.

That happens to me quite a bit too.  Maybe once out of every 10 or 20 statues I place.  I set the statue to be removed, and once it is everything goes back to normal.  Once I had "announce no job cancellations" order set so I didn't see the hundreds of failed job announcements, and the dwarf stuck under the statue died.

Now I just pretend that the dwarf put the statue down on his own foot or something and is now stuck.    :)  I put a small furniture stockpile in the room so the rescue dwarf doesn't have to drag it far.  Rebuilding the exact same statue back in the exact same spot usually works fine.
