Job canceled Dropoff inaccessable
« on: August 31, 2011, 03:38:32 pm »

I get non-stop job canceled messages due to drop off inaccessable errors. They are originating from my 2 cooks and 2 brewers.
On one floor I have my farm plots and each crop has it's own rather large stockpile area. Only the plump helmets are filling up, the others have plenty of room. The next floor down contains 2 stills and 2 kitchens. Each of those four workshops are attached to a room with a bed, chair, and table assigned to one of the four dwarves. Near those workshop/bedroom areas I put a large stockpile each for meat, fish (prepared), cheeses, drinks (animal and plant), and prepared food.

The crops stockpiles, the workshop areas and the food stockpiles along with a barrel stockpile are all within a burrow labeled FoodPrep. Each part of the burrow can be accessed without leaving the burrow. On other floors i have dining rooms with stockpiles for drinks and prepared foods (Not in the foodprep burrow) set to take from the drink/prepared foods stockpiles in the FoodPrep burrow.

The four dwarves assigned to the kitchens/stills are also assigned to the FoodPrep burrow. The stockpiles seem to be working ok, the items that i expect to find in each are there, but everytime a dwarf finished cooking or brewing an annoncment that the dwarf cannot access the drop off point appears. Both stills are set to brew drinks (R)epeat, the stills are not getting cluttered.

What is causing and how do I avoid these job cancelations?

Also, I just added my seed stockpile to the burrow thinking that maybe the seeds created by brewing were the source of the trouble but I still get the errors.

Also, one of the food/drink stockpiles on a floor above might be closer ~equal dist (esp if it is calculated on direct distance rather then distance via hallways doorways and stairs that is not in the burrow... but that shouldn't matter right?

This might be an instance of bug 597.

The main reports are in the case where you assign a dwarf to a burrow while they're in the middle of hauling something to a location that isn't inside the burrow, but one response indicates it can happen to a dwarf happily working inside a burrow if they drink a whole barrel of booze.

When Urist McBurrowed drinks the last drink from a barrel, he'll try to store the barrel in a furniture stockpile (not sure whether furniture hauling has to be enabled when they finish it)...if there is a non-full furniture stockpile anywhere, and there isn't one inside the burrow (or maybe if the closest one isn't inside the burrow), he'll try to haul the barrel outside of the burrow, cancel when he realizes he can't leave the burrow and go jobless...but then gets reassigned the same haul again for some reason, and gets stuck in a loop.

If you've ever drunk a whole barrel of booze, I'm sure you can sympathize.

Apparently you have to release the dwarf from the burrow until the hauling trip is over to get them back. No reports on whether creating a stockpile that accepts whatever the dwarf is trying to haul nearby might break the loop, but deleting the burrow or turning off furniture hauling after the loop starts don't.

That sounds like it might have been it. I did delete and rebuild the burrows without fixing the problem. Thanks.
