Question about trade resources, and worldgen

Hello! I was wondering if joining a large parent civilization made it more likely that the civilization would make it so that more diverse items would be brought in caravans, and if so, by what means can I make it so that my parent civilization is larger in worldgen? I want to be able to access all metals without setting mineral scarcity to 100

I've done a little experimentation already, and it seems like large contiguous mountain chains help for dwarven civilizations, and low mineral scarcity helps parent civilization, and that high savagery and possibly even good alignment limits where civilizations can prosper. Is this accurate? Would large vertical forest ranges allow me greater diversity of imported creatures from elves?

Currently, a civilization has access to any materials that can be found in their territory, and will trade those materials with you. The only thing you can really do to make civilizations occupy more territory is let world gen run for longer, though you do have the option of picking which dwarven civ you want for your parent. Meaning you can pick the largest one and hope for the best.

As for civ growth, different races settle different areas. The reason dwarves like big mountain chains is because they build mountainhomes in on the borders of mountain biomes. Elves make forest retreats in forests, and humans usually prefer plains and grasslands. Only thing that would influence the creatures elves bring you is the creatures present in the biomes that their settlements occupy. Likewise, dwarven traders can only bring metals and rocks that are present in their settlements. I'm also drugged out of my mind on pain meds right now, so if any of that didn't make sense it's because cogency is like a river that flows in the wind so you'd have to ask these rabbits are eating my brain HELLO.

Thank you, that confirms some of what I had assumed. Using longer mountain chains (with more neutral regions and limited savagery), I seem to be able to generate a dwarven civilization on a medium sized map with all eleven conventional pure metals every couple worldgens.

The idea behind a small world would be that an elven civilization could span from the arctic to the tropics, providing extremely diverse fauna. Maybe it's a bit silly, but I like having access to as much as possible, to not be as limited by the specifics of my embark.

In the legends viewer application, my worlds seem to generate human and elven civilizations with 10k+ citizens, but the healthiest dwarven civilizations peak around 600, is that normal?

I couldn't really tell ya, but it might have something to do with mountainhomes not having been integrated with the new settlements yet, so currently in this version they do not physically exist. As in, if you went to one in adventure mode, there would be nothing there. Might be some related world gen mechanics are wonky as well, which are messing with the population numbers.
