Folder is Locked Out After Shutdown
« on: November 06, 2006, 08:38:00 pm »

I've noticed this with both 22e, I'm not sure if it remains in 22f. The chanelogs don't say anything about it though.

After saving a game, or generating a world, and exiting, you can't delete the save folder. I assume DF hasn't told windows it isn't using the folder anymore when it shuts down. Not much of a problem except I have to restart to update versions if I've already played a game that session.

I haven't had this problem (I delete them all the time).  What OS are you on?  Other observations of this behavior?

Interestingly enough, it didn't happen when I tried to reproduce it with the latest version.

However, I do have a folder I cannot delete on my desktop right now of the previous version. It's the second time I've had such an occurance. If it happens again I'll try to retrace my steps.

Windows XP SP 2 BTW

Edit:

It just dawned upon me what happened. I was generating a new region when it crashed! That might be a bug of its own, but that explains why the save folder isn't deletable now. If the game crashed during world creation, it wouldn't release the folder would it?

I recently fixed a world gen crash.  That might be it.
