Pax Prime
« on: August 25, 2011, 02:54:46 am »

Hello DF people, PAX Prime is in Seattle this weekend and I was wondering if anyone else on the forums is going. Is Toady one going?

I doubt he will, but he certainly should ! He could meet so many game developpers he's a model for !
Well, I understand that would be pretty terrifying, but seeing Toady One sign autographs would cheer me up so much :D

He should go to steal something from Mojang's booth.

I heard Notch would give his had away to someone. It should definitely become Toady's.

Actually, I'd be interested in a discussion between Notch and Toady as well. It could go wrong, but it could also go very right. I had the feeling Toady was a little resentful of Minecraft's success, despite it being so much less grand and ambitious.

Let's not turn this into another Minecraft thread.

Alright, alright.

I was just saying, I would be curious how famous Dwarf Fortress would be from the people attending PAX.

Well, I'll be there! (Getting my stuff packed up to hit the road right now.)

I would go to play board games with Tarn and/or Zach, but that's about it. So, not going.

We should organize some sort of a meetup on Sunday for anyone that happens to be going.  I can't really help pick a time or location or anything, as I'm heading out to the convention center in a few minutes.

Sure I'll come, just pick a place/time. I get bored of pax pretty quickly anyway.

How about if we just go through PAX occasionally talking loudly about cats. The Mojang booth, for example. That way we can easily find each other.

The Mojang booth, for example.

Are people really that dedicated to turning the idea of a Bay12/Mojang 'feud' into 'a real thing'?

What feud? What are you talking about? Are people suggesting mobbing against Minecraft? If that's the case we should go over to the Minecraft forums and whatever Bethesda has for forums and have a three-way battle of nerds and geeks!

In all seriousness though, I didn't mean that. The 6th floor isn't very crowded, and thus a nice spot to meet.

Okay, if anyone sees this I'm going to be by the Mojang booth until about 2:30.  I'll be in a Sollux shirt, and I'll have a crappy sign made out of 6 buttons and two posters with an ASCII dwarf drawn on it in red colored pencil.

Isn't even jokingly feuding between fanbases kind of missing the point of PAX?  We're all gamers, right?

I know PAX is over but still, Wheaton's Law, people.

I don't think feuding is a bad thing necessarily, though DF and minecraft are melons to grapes.
