Looking for Help I do not know where this needs to go!
« on: January 04, 2013, 10:57:19 am »

So I Recently got my hands on an old Image of me playing DF 40d and started wondering.
Has anyone found a way to Get the Physics from the 40d version to work on the new version that is available now.

^^^^ That kind of Fun is all i want ^^^^

I think this would go in the Modding section.

Sadly I doubt it's possible to have this kind of ‼FUN‼ in the current version at all, even with modding, because the physics is determined by what Toady has written in the game's code, not the raw files.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

I think it's been replicated by playing as bronze colossus and using a low contact blunt weapon hitting a goblin?

the wrestling/throwing lets you launch small creatures though, which can be fun

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

You could try increasing the velocity multiplier for warhammers by a lot.  Say maybe (in raw/objects/item_weapon.txt):
Code: [Select]
[ITEM_WEAPON:ITEM_WEAPON_HAMMER_WAR]
[NAME:war hammer:war hammers]
[SIZE:400]
[SKILL:HAMMER]
[TWO_HANDED:37500]
[MINIMUM_SIZE:32500]
[MATERIAL_SIZE:3]
[ATTACK:BLUNT:10:200:bash:bashes:NO_SUB:200000]
I have not tested what this will do, but I know that the velocity multiplier changes the power of the attack.  You might also want to increase the contact area (first number after "ATTACK:BLUNT") as with a contact area of 10 a hugely powerful warhammer might just break/jam bones, rather than launching your victims through the air.

Masterwork's edited combat system can do this at times.

Mess around with weapon raws/creature attack raws. I myself take particular joy in creating weapons that pierce foes with an edge that has the radius of oh say... Singularity.
