Dwarves idling in rooms, ignoring statue gardens, etc.

All of a sudden, my dwarves seem to be ignoring my dining hall, statue garden, aquarium, and zoo... they're just all hanging out in their rooms for some reason. Has anybody had this happen - and if yes, how have you fixed it, if at all? They still eat in the room, but just not idle in it.

EDIT:

it appears they are ignoring tables - the dwarves sit down in a chair next to a table and eat out of their lap.

meh - nevermind. after a few seasons they are back to their jolly old selves.
