20 PS3 Dollars and nothing to do
« on: September 03, 2011, 01:48:52 am »

So I have 20 PS3 dollars that I got for Christmas a long time ago (Honestly... compared to just a 20-dollar gifts certificate to any place that sells videogames would have been better) and I am not sure what I want to spend it on.

I thought of getting Xenogears and Breath of Fire 4 with it.

However plently of great games came out but I have intentionally ignored them mostly because they are usually so useless (most budget title games are just so mindless they have become "shovelware")

What do you suggest I look into on the 5-10 dollar market?

Pixeljunk shooter is a nice game that's 9.99 not counting taxes and such.

Oddly enough? I got that as a present.

Not a huge fan.

Lots of PS1 classics for about 5 bucks each I think? Also Deathspank is a decent action-adventure-RPG.

They are either 5 or 10 dollars. (actually more like 6 and 11 dollars)

Meaning I can either get 2 or 3 PS1 games.

Most of the 10 dollar games seem to be made by Squarenix

Seriously dude, this game is great when you fancy chilling out a little.

Or you could wait for Journey by the same indie dev team to be released.

Castle Crashers is a good one if you haven't tried it yet!

I'm a nerd and quite enjoyed Akimi village for awhile. No combat, and it gets quite repetitive when you're nearing the end, but still pretty fun. There's not really any replay value, unless you really get a kick out of building villages. :P

If you want a good PS1 game, I recall Team Buddies being good fun. Especially when you end up building your team of three, then telling them to construct a tank while you loiter around doing nothing.

...I forgot to explain the game again, didn't I.

Basically, you and your opponent(s) start with one Buddy, a 2x2x2 building pad and a HQ. There's also a communal pile of crates in the middle of the map, which constantly gets refilled by air drops. You have to control your Buddy, make him run over to the crates, grab one, run back, place it on the build pad, get more crates etc. Stacking blocks in different ways has different results E.g. A block on its own gives an Uzi, while a full build zone gives a tank. You need to use said items to complete whatever objective it is you're supposed to be doing. It's very colourful, cheery and silly, yet still manages to feel quite actiony at the heart of it.

...Oh yeah, that's why I never explain things. I suck at it.

Unfortunately I spent the money already as this topic was lagging and I thought I was being unfair.

Got Xenogears and Breath of Fire 4.

Wish I had another 20 dollars because then I'd get Vandel hearts (or whatever it is called)

Are they any good?

It is hard to say because right now I am sort of suffering from Unemotional responses to media (or rather... Nothing seems to have an effect on me at the moment)

If Xenogears suffers from anything it is making the main character seem waaaay too powerful sometimes. There were several points where I was going "We can take them" but the characters treated it like it was a big deal.

I havn't played Breath of Fire 4 a lot.

I guess I am in a terrible mood or something... nothing really brings me any joy. So I can't really say if these games are good.

This is a classic sign of depression, something that seems to particularly victimize gamers. Get out and about and use your body a bit, preferably to the point of exhaustion and you should see these clouds lift a bit.
