Fixing Armour?
« on: August 22, 2011, 02:36:40 am »

Hey all, I was wondering if it were possible to mod the Dwarf body detail raws (or something) to make armour cover the ears, nose, lips and teeth?
I tried taking a look at them, and despite doing a lot of modding in other areas, I can't figure out how those setups work.

Just add in

[USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:ARMOR:METAL_TEMPLATE] the following tags after this are taken from BRONZE
         [SOLID_DENSITY:8250]
         [LIQUID_DENSITY:8020]
         [MOLAR_MASS:80000]
         [IMPACT_YIELD:602000]
         [IMPACT_FRACTURE:843500]
         [IMPACT_STRAIN_AT_YIELD:547]
         [COMPRESSIVE_YIELD:602000]
         [COMPRESSIVE_FRACTURE:843500]
         [COMPRESSIVE_STRAIN_AT_YIELD:547] no data, used 110
         [TENSILE_YIELD:172000]
         [TENSILE_FRACTURE:241000]
         [TENSILE_STRAIN_AT_YIELD:156] 110
         [TORSION_YIELD:172000]
         [TORSION_FRACTURE:241000]
         [TORSION_STRAIN_AT_YIELD:156]
         [SHEAR_YIELD:172000]
         [SHEAR_FRACTURE:241000]
         [SHEAR_STRAIN_AT_YIELD:156] no data, used 110
         [BENDING_YIELD:172000]
         [BENDING_FRACTURE:241000]
         [BENDING_STRAIN_AT_YIELD:156]
         [MAX_EDGE:10000]
[USE_TISSUE_TEMPLATE:ARMOR:SHELL_TEMPLATE] shell because it has no pain or bleeding

then also add

   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:BODY:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:BODY_UPPER:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:BODY_LOWER:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:ARM:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:ARM_UPPER:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:ARM_LOWER:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:HAND:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:LEG:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:LEG_UPPER:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:LEG_LOWER:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:FOOT:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:HEAD:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:NECK:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:NOSE:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:FINGER:ARMOR]
   [TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:TOE:ARMOR]

that should cover all humanoid limbs and children body parts. If you want it to cover every creature, you will have to create a Body_Detail_Plan that used the ARG(X):(thickness). Takes some know-how. And my mention of using this is very limited.

EDIT: Fixed the issue of IRON instead of ARMOR in the TISSUE_LAYER thanks to Quietust

Shouldn't those tissue layers be using "ARMOR"?

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

OP: Are you asking for instructions on how to give your dwarves armored skin, or instructions to fix the actual armor so it covers the ears, lips etc?

What I was wondering was modding the dwarves so that the armour covered those bits (like, adding a tag to the nose or something?) But if that won't work, modding them into a tougher material is the next best thing.

Thanks for the help so far!

Armor pieces already cover small bodyparts of the main part like lips, toes, nose etc.
