Question on nationailities?
« on: October 04, 2011, 01:33:15 am »

Do the different races have them? I usually play as a human adventurer, and I think that most times I gen a world and play all from the same civ (usually to kill this one megabeast I've found in Legends), I notice they tend to share certain attributes. Coincedence? They often share a skin colour, or feature (like narrow eyes). And I'm sure I've spawned a world in which ALL the Forgotten Beasts are tall, gangly, black-skinned humanoids with one eye and a curling horn on their head....
Edit: I spelt "nationailities" wrong, but my question still stands.

Dwarf Fortress does track genetic information of (at least) historical figures, and uses that information to determine the looks of people of a given entity. It is most likely a bit too static, though - from among hair color, eye color, and skin color, you'll usually find that two traits are simply fixed with absolutely no variance. It could even be all three traits, but occasionally, it's just one or no traits.

Other appearance traits (such as pupil or ear shape) are used similarly.

Well I do know that Species do breed and can also become extinct, but I'm not exactly sure if traits are passed down from the parents.

So I would say Maybe :P.

They don't like that.

The genetics tracking is even more evident with the pony mod.

It's not uncommon to have more than half of your ponies in the fort of one color.
And that's just one feature.

I thought pony colors were caste-based? Was that changed?
