A good military set up for somebody who doesn't like the management is to have a full time force of about 5% of your fortress, and put the rest into a militia with simple Iron Spears so they have some protection against gobs/trogs.

Semimegabeasts are overrated. A few dwarves with decent equipment will do the job.

Minotaurs are the exception to the "semi-mega beasts are overrated" rule, since they are unique in having the [can_learn] tag, and live nearly forever.  In a few centuries a minotaur can take almost anything in battle just because it is a legendary dodger, wrestler and fighter. Their invasions are only anticlimactic, when you have several legendary fighters decked out in steel or blue metal ready to meet it.  Anyone who has played adventure mode respects the minotaur for the killing machine that it is.

Also, god help you if it grabs one of your dwarves' weapons. They're natural experts with all of them.

Yeah, the fuckers are more dangerous than most megabeasts in adventurer. I've only beaten one in adventurer, out of about 6 fought, while I've beaten over 20 titans and at least 6 dragons. Don't mess with the minotaurs.

I fought one that had a steel slicing knife equipped. I went in with about four companions and only I came out, and with severe injuries at that. That adventurer had killed 4 titans, about a dozen night creatures, and a hydra, all without a scratch.

Yikes, the Orcs have a nasty language.  Traditional foreplay would be right out for them; how would they ever "say my name" for one another?  No wonder Ocrs are always so bloodthirsty and violent, they're getting sub-par action.

If you removed [PET_EXOTIC], tame it and let it be the new leader of your army. Otherwise, dump it in a pit and dump any future prisoners in there. Also, cats.
You can't tame creatures that have killed dwarves.

Try taming it though, I remember my first "tame" dragon.  The hallways and staircases are so narrow. It was just heading for the dining room. And the fire, god the fire.
