Dwarfiest Real Life Mine

Check out Kennecot Copper Mine in Utah.  It's HUGE, and rather dwarfy in some ways too.

The only downside is these are both open-pit mines, and true dwarves dig INTO the earth, not haul it away to slave under that gods-forsaken sky all day, sober as a convicted felon.

Wow... imagine if the lifts were destroyed when you were at the bottom and no-one knew...

In fact, don't. It's horrifying.
