The end of the (dwarven) world
« on: August 03, 2011, 01:36:19 am »

just curious: what is at the end of the (generated) world?

I guess, it doesn't make any difference for a fortress, or does it? eg caravans/enemies not arriving from that side?
what happens if you travel as adventurer to the end of the world? do you fall off?

I guess you probably wouldn't get any caravans, etc. from that side if your embark was wedged right up against the edge of the map. In adventure mode, there's just a big expanse of blackness. You can't move into it; I have yet to experiment much with it to see if, for example, dodging into it acts like dodging into a wall for the purposes of stunning, or if enemies knocked into it blow apart.

I always imagined that the map we were given was a slice of a planet that the given seed grew into.

Either that or sheep.

What's wrong with using magma? That's almost always the easiest method.
I have issues channeling it properly to do that method. I end up flooding the fortress with magma.
