no-path spam
« on: February 14, 2008, 02:01:00 am »

My architect built.. poorly.  So he got stuck on the wrong side of the pump.  He started spamming "no path" like you wouldn't believe -- every job he could do, he spammed.  Saving and reloading fixed the spam (and framerate).

Um, yeah, so, minor nuisance, but I notice you were futzing with the pathing code, so I figured I'd mention it.

....How do you build on the wrong side of a pump?
They build from the same pump tile every single time: The "accessible" "here's where I'll go to opperate the pump from" end.

With a vertical axle on the z-level above, this isn't a problem.  Except for the missing dwarf.

Ok fine, but you should have expected it, hence the bug is BKAC (between Keyboard and Chair).  Dwarves ALWAYS build pumps from the same location (relative to the pump) and thus, it can be expected, that they can wall themselves in if you didn't give them a path out.

At the same time, the dwarf shouldn't be taking inaccessible jobs, and a load shouldn't fix it.  Might be something with the path components not being updated.

BTW, I note that the dwarf doesn't move for a while after getting unstuck.  Is that bug or feature?  If bug, related to the screw pumps pathing issue, perhaps?

The stupidity is BKAC.  The message-spam bug is Toady-side.  This isn't a top bug in my book, just one to put on the list for whenever it's convenient.
