Your playing as a Demigod you should play as a hero, this way you get skill at the game, although there is no right way to play this game.

demigod is good to learn adventure mode, without being killed TOO incredibly quickly, providing you avoid boogies.  proud to say i've worked myself down to "hero"

Yeah I guess I usually don't look at it like that. Normally I say you should start on default and then once mastered you can play around on the easy difficulity. Now I usually play as Peasents.

Demigod to me is a great way to skip a LOT of nothing so you can jump right into the game

Especially now that I have less encounters and the boogymen are simply outragous.

Mind you I played the game long enough that Demigod really REALLY is a time saver.

yea, seriously, what's the point in starting peasant if you're just going to macro everything to legendary, anyway?

Also, I highly suggest getting 19 soldiers to follow you and sleeping in the plains. You won't regret it, I promise. large ambush = army arc.
