Purring Maggots.. I know they're in cavern levels 2 and 3, but how does one go about getting them per-say?  I'm taking a guess that small animal trapping is the way to do it.. is that so?

Also, something unrelated to the title - Lobsters.  I've read that they also need to be trapped, not fished.  Is that also the case?  I'm doing a cave challenge, and would like to have a wide variety of foods for my dwarves.. Dwarven Cheese, Lobster, Dwarven Sugar Roasts, the whole shazam.

as purring maggots are vermin, yes, small animal trapping is the way to go.

i dont know about the lobsters, i think i remember hearing something about cave fishing being bugged.

Ah k, thanks.  Once I get my fort down to those levels, I'll see about getting purring maggots, and test to see if cave fishing is bugged or not.  I'll let ye know

i pretty much gave up on trying to catch purring maggots, so wound up changing them to spawn in cavern 1, too. that way, my civs have access to dwarven cheese from the outset. also, i can often order up a few to show with caravans, but have yet to actually try to turn those ones into cheese.

Well, I just hit cavern level 1, and theres a convienent passage nearby to level 2.  I'm gonna set up camp in the wall near it, and get ready to explore then settle level 2.  Then the cheese making begins.  I hope.
