Dwarves Sleeping For Long Periods of Time
« on: July 19, 2011, 10:51:24 pm »

Is there any way to wake a sleeping dwarf from slumber?  Or is there any way to reset the stat that controls their internal clock to max?

I've had 2 dwarves that have been sleeping over 2 years (no eat, no drink file).

A few of the others perished in my early attempts to wake them, mostly involving dropping them via Runesmith (many ended up dieing) and putting them in a "Drowning" state via dfliquids.

However, my attempts are to no avail, as they go right back to sleep

Does their status in the Units menu say they're sleeping, or resting?

Think of it like Sim City, except with rival mayors that seek to destroy your citizens by arming legions of homeless people and sending them to attack you.

Do the dwarves have a red background? If so, they're not sleeping...

Check the unit list. If they're sleeping, something weird's happening. If they're resting, it's normal, and you should kill them. Or get a doctor.

2 resting (due to dropping them) a third bled to death.  I'm talking about the rest of the fortress who are [Sleeping]

By the way, if you look in the Jobs menu, it says their job is [Sleeping], two are [Resting]

Have you done any modding or installed any mods?

I seem to recall a tag that prevents sleeping dwarves from ever waking up.

One has a red background.  I'm keeping him around for now.  I modified the file for protection pets, so sieges are no issue atm.  They have ALL been sleeping since season 2, so the fortress has like 3 workshops, a trade depot, and a few beds.

Yes.  I've never used the [NO_SLEEP] tag due to a bug with it where this happens.

Note: I DIDN'T use that tag.  Ever.

I can probably give a list of the modifications I've made.  It's not too much.

Changes:

Fortress Defense Mod Installed (Correctly, mind you)

Ironhand Graphics Set (Pre-Installed, some modifications to controls; <,> were UP,DOWN Z LEVEL, changed to normal; init changed slightly to increase repetitions on keystrokes, increase population limit to 500, changed autosave to backup and seasonal, changed FPS_COUNTER to YES, changed the FPS limit to 250)

creature_domestic all have tags like so, as I was getting tired of pets bothering me with messages.

Other modifications are pretty simple

This might be good to know.

All dwarfs have [drowsy] on the WND screen (wound).

However, I've looked on the wiki and noticed that just means they're sleeping/wanting to sleep.

Were you attacked by a forgotten beast recently, there is a syndrome which causes drowsiness which could be affecting your dwarves

No.  Is there anything else that will cause that symptom?

I have all animals including Dragons and Giant Cave Spiders.

I may have been attacked by some sort of sentient being (one that doesn't ambush).

I HAVE opened the caves down to the magma, but I've had no messages for MB or FB.

All dwarfs are affected by this, some of them fell asleep as early as minutes after embarking.

Area is not evil.
