When trying to release a small creature from a cage, the game gives lots and lots of spam: "<dwarf> cancels releasing small creature: need empty trap".  This generated about 10 pages of spam in 3 seconds!

When I built an animal trap, the spam got even worse: I got the old message and "job item lost or destroyed".

Do you have a save you can stick up on a file hosting service?  The first bug is Bug 647, but I don't understand why the second one happened.

No, I don't have a save of the bug.  I did something (I don't remember what) to the cages and the "job item lost or destroyed" messages disappeared.

I found another bug: I tried to move a turtle from one cage to another and "removing" it from the new cage before it got there, and the turtle disappeared.  I think somebody's carrying it around, but I don't know who.  it doesn't appear in the unit list.  Should I upload a save of that?

A turtle isn't a unit -- it's small so it is classed as vermin.  If it didn't have a cage assignment, the guy might have dropped it, in which case it would just wanted off and blink out of existence after a while.
