Goblins shot my dogs and I can't butcher the corpses
« on: February 12, 2008, 09:28:00 am »

Actually goblins shot quite many animals like a war dog, four puppies, a muskox, a couple of fowls and their mother along with metalcrafter and siege engineer. Only the war dog was a pet, but I can't butcher the corpses of those unfortunate puppies and fowls. Did the goblins use poisoned arrows or something so that my dwarves decided they were not edible or is this unintentional? Or do the dwarves consider the fallen animals as war heroes?

You can't butcher already-dead animals that you wouldn't normally hunt. I think it's the [butcherable_nonstandard] tag. They have to be alive and tame and then you can slaughter them.

Darn. Well, thanks anyway. I need to remember that when I create next world and tweak raws a bit to make them butcherable...
