..and as the last latch unlatched, and the lady slided down the ramp, the airlock locked and depressurised, the outer lock opened and i was slinged into the empty vacuum of space, i clenched my PMAS tightly to my crotch as i was slinged towards the planetoid. I turned retrograde and burned myself into an orbit just dipping into the athmosphere, the MFD estimated the dip to be in 20 minutes, with Independence behind me, with its 200 robotic crewmen working hard on maintaining the old mothership. ISTrades Pluto was long away and the next refuel ship was months away. I prepared my onboard systems, mounted the Personal Manifest Administation System to my chest, loaded it with medicals and an Oxygen supply, and reagents for my blowtorch. The landing shuttle started shaking and the re-entry MFD's temperature gauges increased rapidly, i engaged disengaged radiators and switched to external athmospheric cooling, huge flares spouted from below of the shuttle with overheated cooling fluid, i climbed to 40 degrees, i charged hydraulics and at 200m/s i engaged athmospheric flight systems and switched to ramjet propulsion, i was 1km from the surface, rapid decreasing altitude, at 50 m/s i opened hover doors and engaged hover engine. I was now 30 meters above ground, i carefully lowered the throttle while anxiously balancing with the stick, suddenly the shuttle was struck by a huge blow of wind and it was knocked out of balance, and it knocked into the ground from 10 meters, the landing gears were scrambled and the right wing was partially disloged, releasing hydraulic fluid, i immediately hammered down the "emerg hydsys stop" instantly locking all hydraulic vents. The damage system said 30%, would take a few days to repair..
