doing unactivated jobs?
« on: September 03, 2006, 12:53:00 am »

no savegame.. sorry.. but i've noticed some of the dwarves were caging large animals (namely.. horse/nules) even though i've turned their animal hauling off. i've also seen someone collecting sand even though they don't have glassmaking on

is that meant to be normal?

----
ack.. forget the sand collection bit...

well.. sort of.. it would makes more sense if you can haul sand and make glasses simultaneously.. otherwise the glassmaker would just be sitting around doing nothing whilst someone else is diverted to collect the sand..

Sand, yes (reqs item hauling as of newer version). Animals, don't know.

I think all the jobs associated to caging animals, bringing water, ponds and so on are currently handled by everybody, though if a dwarf with animal skills is handy it'll prefer them for caging jobs.  Which isn't very useful since that dwarf probably won't be idle at the right time.
