No, the single most lethal profession is Migrant, followed closely by Hastily-Drafted Zergling.

The problem with fish and animal dissectors is that they can only ply their trade at all if the right creatures are available on-site, and the product is only useful as a trade commodity. With the possible exception of anti-venoms, I think, but collecting those creates nearly as many problems as it solves.

The next-most useless professions for me, personally, are Siege Engineering or Operating. Siege weapons in the current version are currently more more trouble than they're worth; they're so wildly inacurate that I'm not convinced they're aimed at all, their field of fire is terrible and you write off a whole log and possibly a metal bar every time you fire a ballista. There are numerous other, more resource-efficient ways of taking down anything short of bronze colossi or Hidden Fun Stuff.

The most useless labor is the one I don't have any jobs for at the moment.

Probably a toss-up between woodcrafting and siege engineers, because I never have jobs for those skills.

If Toady ever gets cave gas coded, wax working will become invaluable towards saving miners. But some of those jobs I just can't see getting used. Like say, what the reader skill could be (other than ammo).

Wax could have more uses, yep. Perhaps dwarves would enjoy candle-lit dinners

Fishing is just as good as farming if you have a river. One of my fortresses my food stockpiles where either plump helmets or mussels.

Overfishing can occur eventually. Fishing is not a long-term food source unless you're at an ocean.
