Division of modding into subforums
« on: July 05, 2011, 05:48:29 pm »

Just an idea that I thought others might want to get behind. Sometimes it's hard to remember what a program was called, or which mod had which added civilization. Scrolling through 10-20 pages of what you're not looking for can be discouraging. Your thoughts?

Apparently the common answer is that it's not crowded enough to do that yet.

The modding section does seem a little disorganized sometimes.    It might be nice to separate the stuff like the Utilities from the mods, at least.  Maybe the modding help from the main mods too, but that might cause all the skilled modders not to see help threads as often.

I don't know you still have a hard time searching through threads if/when the subforums get filled up. having to scroll through 10-20 pages of content to find something(do you make a sub forum to stop that?).
Profit has a catalog of the utilities and conversions in a thread that's stickied.

we have this, for looking througth the list of mods/utilities:
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=28829.0
if something is missing you can surely point it out and it will be added
and anyway "major" is a term with much of subjectivity ...

A subforum for utilities would be nice, cos they have no special place for now and are both in the mod forum and the general forum

the general forum kinda holds all of df so I can see utilities being place in there but let's not say they don't have a home here along with the mods.
