Dwarf does not suffocate

As my fort turned out not to be FUN enough, i decided never to use cage traps again, and to kill off my fort just to see a tantrum spiral. Short story long, after smashing half of my fort, biting elven traders and getting sieged, my remainig 9 got attacked by blind cave ogres. Most of my dwarfes were lying in the hospital, and the ogres killed everyone inside, besides one recruit. He got most of his limbs bent, and one Ogre startet strangling his throat. That was in the 9 of Hematit. Shortly afterwards, migrants arrived, got killed, 3 dwarves were left. At the end of Galena two of the remainig dwarves starved. The recruit was still alive. He didn get hungry or thirsty, and he even feeled happy. At the 23. of Sandstone he finally died because Migrants shortly distractet his strangler, who after that kicked his brain apart.

Unless this involves us making a giant strangulation trap for nobles/elves/any creature that breathes, I'm not sure where this thread will be going.

Well, for 1) Some dwarves may be gay, but unable to express this.  Was the ogre of the opposite gender?  And for 2) point 1 doesn't matter because all dwarves are the same short naked drunkards.  Gender is a formality.

That was a really long time to go without food, alcohol, or air. I think it's a bug.

I've also encountered this bug. During one of my first fortresses an Ettin arrived, found a dwarf she wanted to torture and simply stood there strangling him. In the end I threw a quick band of militia together, and armed them with cross-bows. They hit the Ettin with the butts of their cross-bows for around 5 minutes, bruising her muscles, whilst she just kept on strangling. My all time favourite megabeast kill.
