Simplifying Clothes

 I'm really sick of seeing a list of clothes and picking out the quiver to check ammo, or seeing what the dwarf is hauling, or what he equipped. I don't want to completely remove clothes, but is it possible to simplify clothes? Such as making an article of clothing called 'Civilian attire' that covers the body, hands and legs and removing all the vanilla stuff?

Sure. Robes would probably be suitable for this purpose in terms of stats, so just take robes and rename them, delete all other clothing, and then go through your entity files and remove all references to the now-defunct clothing. Note that it's impossible to make non-hand clothing that covers the hands (though clothing with UBSTEP:MAX cover the fingers but not the hands), non-foot clothing that covers the feet (again, LBSTEP:MAX makes them cover the toes but not the feet), and non-head clothing that covers the head (though UBSTEP:MAX also makes facial features be covered). If you want full coverage for your civilians, robes, shoes, gloves, and caps would be enough.

Note that if you don't care for protecting those body parts and don't want your civilians wearing caps, give caps [ARMORLEVEL:1] and change helms to [ARMORLEVEL:2]. If you change caps but not helms, you can get situations where you can make one but not the other. If you don't change caps, they'll be treated as clothing when not made of metal.
