How to Stop Aquifers from Flooding
« on: November 11, 2007, 02:27:00 pm »

If you dig into them from the side and a flood starts generating, all you have to do is dig a ramp in the square underneath the aquifer flood source square.
Normally digging down (I am not underneath the aquifer yet) would cause the ramp square to be flooded. I don't know if this is a bug?

I am on the side of an aquifer (in some non-porous rock or on another biome or whatever) so I dig on the same level and hit damp stone. when I dig into the damp stone the aquifer starts flooding (through the stone or wherever it comes from) If I dig a ramp below the square i just dug out, then the flood stops (or it goes down into the ramp square I just dug out - but it stops flooding that room regardless)

i think you are just channeling the water into another aquifer 1 level below, aquifers can absorb unlimited amounts of water so the flood doesnt spread past that tile
