Engine of War is a top down shooter.
It's pretty fun as a little timewaster, and also pretty cheap. You wire up circuits to your weapons and things to make your mech do things like firing weapons, moving and shooting tactical missiles from an orbiting sattelite.

Very fun game.

Earlier I built an auxiliary power system that is activated if my engine is taken out by EMPs. I click the middle mouse button to switch the circuit to the batteries, then hit CTRL to toggle a switch that starts the batteries. When it goes into this mode, it cuts the power to one of the weapons, the shields and tenths the power to the engine, resulting in only 600 power usage.

I liked the concept, but I feel like it wouldnt have killed them to put in some sort of terrain.  Any kind of terrain.  This kind of line you cant shoot over.  That kind you cant fire over.  The other kind slows you down while traversing it.  it wouldnt even need textures, though it would help.  I'm not even asking for missions, plots, or levels, though those would certianly increase the price i'd be willing to pay.

The guy had a great idea that would have been an awesome component for a game. but its like there is no actual game there, just a little component of one.  Its like if Mount & Blade had stopped development before you could trade, join factions, and conquer towns -- and all you could do was hunt bandits with a really cool mounted combat mechanic..
