[38a] Dwarves taking jobs outside, outside forbidden
« on: February 09, 2008, 09:27:00 am »

I have a bit of a hippo problem, and I finally got my fort underway underground, so I forbid my dwarves to go outside.  They still want to bring inside all the dead, mauled peoples clothing, so they walk to the stairs, stop, cancel job because its forbidden, turn around, stop, get a new job to take someone clothing to the stockpile, go to the stairs, cancel job because its forbidden, etc, etc.

Quite annoying, and is using up my workforce.

For the time being you could just forbid all the junk that their after.

Maybe in the future it could forbid everything outside automatically when you give this order and reclaim it automatically when you cancel it.  That would stop most of the attempts at going outside.

That's a good idea.

Mmm...  Or maybe checking the path to the item during job creation to see if it's in some forbidden or unreachable area?  That's a little broader in scope, but it would help fix some other outstanding job pathing issues.
