Once upon a time, i found a free game, a 2d spacesim with actual gravity, the game started at what looked like earth, everything was orbitting, even the bullets you shoot, the tutorial told everything from how to fly to how to do other stuff and it even warned you about not reaching escape velocity within the tutorial or something, it was awesome but my horrible rig back then couldnt run it good, it ran choppy all the time.

Now i cant remember the name of it anymore, and i got a nice gaming rig now, and i really want to play it.

A) There's a thread for this kind of thing.

B) Escape Velocity?

Kind of forgot, but would you please reply in this thread anyway?
I mean, Escape Velocity is not a java game AFAIK.

It could have been a Java remake of either that or Spacewar.

How could you tell/what makes you think it was Java? How old is the game?

Some years ago, before 2010. But not older, the game had cool sprites, but was physically simulated too.

Well, one semi-obvious clue would be if it was in a browser, though that merely narrows it down to Java and Flash/analogues.

I don't know any games that would actually fit that description, Java or not. Space sims, especially combat sims, 2D or 3D, that actually respect gravity and orbits are kind of a rarity.

I played a game back in '07 or '08 that sounds similar ... but it was more of a simulation than anything else. I do remember the bullets were effected by gravity, though. It was Java, 2D, but the graphics were extremely minimal. Let me see if I can find it ...

Here we are. Probably not what you wanted, but it's close-ish.

It was a standalone application, kind of like how Haven & Hearts start, you know, clicky clicky link, pop up asking you if you want to continue adn that its made by this author and bla bla, and then you came in. I remember if i fired too much bullets my old Pc would lag.

I think it's Star Sonata.
Wasent that, isnt even with gravity physics, but looks cool and i am trying it.
By the way, Springworld challenge is a nice game :)
Also i am actually making physics and gravity based games right now.

In line:
Glued Together Piece of Orbital Wreckage: Cosmic Space Poo
What is this? A space shit: The radial gravity sandbox
Anatomical Griefing: The game(This one will be about surgeries and experiments, not gravity though :P)
