Giving a name to a bedroom
« on: June 20, 2011, 07:08:32 pm »

When interacting with a bedroom you can give it a name by pressing "n".  Is there any purpose to this, besides associating a short note with a bedroom?  It doesn't change the bedroom's listing in the "Building List" screen, which is what I was expecting it to do.

Not that I know of. But I guess it might help as reminders in case you forget what a room was after a period of not playing the fort.

Yeah "n" is the note function. It really doesn't help to do much besides from tagging little labels all over the place. It will not change the name of anything. Now the "n" function is really nice when you need to note what a particular lever does. For instance if you set up a FUN device in your fort you might "n"ote what lever causes the FUN device to go off. That way you can look a the "n"ote tag so that you don't unexpectedly set off the FUN device.

Yeah "n" is the note function.

Ooops, I didn't make myself clear enough.  If you use "q" to interact with a bedroom, you can then use "n" to give it a name separately from the notes system; doing this doesn't seem to do anything.

Yeah from what I can tell right now that is a useless function. Toady may eventually have a use for this function but at this time the only place you can see the name is in the "q" menu.
