Yes, yet another forum oddity
« on: April 19, 2008, 04:50:00 am »

I suppose we should find some amount of enjoyment in this peculiar forum, but I felt I had to point this out.  Yes, this is just one more thing that should be bugging you to update the forum software.

When two different threads in a particular subforum have new posts within one minute of each other, there's a slight mix-up.  One thread will show up as the most recent thread on the forum overview, but if you pop into that subforum the other one will take the highest point.

This recently got a little bit more interesting, as it recently displayed a thread out-of-order as it usually does, but this time it also showed that the latest post was left by someone who posted in the other most recent thread.  In this case, the mighty amphibian himself.

The threads in question are the "Too Late" and "Chinese School" threads in the Various Nonsense subforum.  Viewing the threads from the inside of the Nonsense forum shows everything as hunky-dory, with "Too Late" as the most recent (and the one Toady posted in).  But looking at it from the Bay12 forum overview shows "Chinese School" as the most recent, and Toady as the most recent poster, even though he has never once posted in that thread.

Hardly important, but I just wanted to point it out.  It's good for a quick chuckle at the befuddled nature of these forums.

EDIT:  A software mix-up may not have been the cause of this last-post problem.  Although it may be difficult for some of you to consider the possibility of the Toady One making a mistake, I fear it is one which cannot be fully revoked.
