Things were going well in my little fot untill my automated door cleaning/immagrant cleansing dvice was wedged open by one of my less appreciative dwarfs. I dug a second entrance and all was well untill my dwarfs clothes started to break. then i started to get spammed with dwarf cancels pickup equipment messages. presumably because they want to wear the clothes my visitors left behind. I have other clothes they can wear but the dwarfs affected just sit there not doing anything but complaining. This is what the entrance hall looks like.

the dwarves in question are in the room to the right with good  clothes less than 5 squares away.

I've had something similar with rocks sitting in a flooded out farm.  Dwarves need to be...  less dumb.  There are some optimization issues to deal with, but it should be do-able.
