Oldest fortresses?
« on: February 21, 2008, 12:31:00 am »

I'm wondering who has the oldest fortress. I know that I certainly don't, as my record is four years. Also, has anyone had an adventurer die of old age?

Oldest fortress wins the <<Gold>>. Engraved on the bucket is a human. The human is spending too much time playing Dwarf Fortress.

Nist Akath is 28 years old, and still has its original mayor.

In the last 2d version, I had a fort lasting a good 70+ years. I've still got it, actually.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips, I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.

I think my max was 8 years in one of the first releases of 3D DF >_>

I always end up trying some crazy plans that destroy everything or just get tired with the current environment and try new settings.

The problem is that in the end the game gets too slow. Interesting things doesn't happen with the speed needed to keep you interested, and I begin to wonder how would be the legends generated by that fortress.

My oldest had 12 years, in the first 3d version with working sieges. My current one has 10 (lastest version) I think he may surpass the oldest.

I had one at 10 years way back in 2D before I learned to mod.

Now there lucky to last 5 before I get an idea for some new creature to make or some new experiment to try.

my most recent world was wiped because I wanted to try my hand at making a Grass Assassin from phantasy star.
